Pilot project in Gerpinnes (Belgium)

  • Launched in September 2025, this project has already revealed the stories of several individuals and graves of local historical significance.
  • Six Locally Historically Important Graves have already been identified and equipped at the Acoz cemetery.
  • An inventory of other locally historically important graves is currently being developed.
  • A local history circle and volunteer citizens collaborate to identify LHIG in the other cemeteries as well.

An entrance QR plaque provides access to various information:

Integration with cemetery management platform

The commune of Gerpinnes uses software from d2d3.com to manage their cemeteries. This includes 3D mapping and drone-captured details of the graves with an overlay of information that includes the links to the pages with the stories behind the graves. This allows a website visitor to discover the graves of local historical importance and do a virtual visit.
